I realized I hadn't posted one of these in forever... so what the hell. Just grabbing a few from my Imeem playlists, and then, a lil' something special to celebrate Time Crash, a 7-minute Doctor Who "episode" which airs today on the BBC.
I love emo. Not all, but yeah, I listen to it.
(watch Chad *CRINGE* when he reads that... ehhehe)
I'm a sucker for a catchy beat. That's all there is to it, really. It's schlock, believe me -- I know. But, it's so excellent for when I'm at work or cleaning, ya know? Don't have to think about the lyrics at all (and frankly, it's best not to); just music in the background that you can bop around to. Or, at least, I can...
Thought I'd share. Because, you know, I really do listen to some awful stuff... ; )
(This is essentially a test to see if Vox imports my LJ. Also, just a side note that the lead singer to Gogol Bordello is kind of an asshole. Just listen to Alcatriz's first podcast or two where he does a short interview... ugh.)

So, last weekend we went to Red Dragon for the 3rd anniversary of the Minneapolis Metroblogging site. MB Mpls' city captain Erica was the first down, followed by Chad and myself.
I was happy that Aaron Landry stopped in (had been wanting to meet him for a while), followed by Leif P from the freshly-launched This Is Why I Love Minneapolis (and sometimes St. Paul).
And... that was all that showed up. There were great discussions, but all the same, we were disappointed that the turnout, well, didn't turn out. I am still happy to have met a couple people, and it's always great to see Erica.
Anyway, I just got the media center PC back up, so we're watching Battlestar Galactica's 3rd season just now (ep15 if you're curious). Earlier today, had lunch with Chad and Ryan over at Pho Tau Bay; pretty good, as usual!
Afterwards, Ryan took Chad out to an electronics store. I was slightly mortified at the thought of leaving them alone together around expensive gadgets. To my surprise, he came home with Christmas presents for the family, and then some pears, chocolates, ravioli and spanokopita. Heh!
And now... I go focus on BSG. I leave you with this, snagged from

Update: Saturday, Red Dragon, 7 PM.
(Well, actually my birthday is on Sunday, but I don't wanna 'make' people come out on a Sunday ...so, this Saturday it is.)
Planning on either A) Pancho Villa or B) Red Dragon, at 7 PM.
So -- vote now if you have a preference--!
Either way, it'll be 7 PM. Let me know if you can/cannot make it so we can get a table set up with the appropriate number of chairs.
We're celebrating this Saturday over at our place, starting at 7 PM. There will be food & drinks, Wii gaming (I'll box anyone and win!), and a laptop out for those quick Twitter or LJ posts!
We'd love to have our friends with us, so let me know if you can make it! If you need our address/phone number, send me an email to: opheliac9 at gmail dot com.

Long story short -- chadvalentine and I met up with L and her boyfriend, T. Later in the evening, we ended up at the CC to see D.
T was drinking too much, and started picking on a guy at the table next to us. What I heard was, "That guy has faggy socks." Seriously, I am NOT kidding. Well, the fellas were none too pleased by this, and after a couple more words were said, stood up to get in T's face about it. The CC staff quickly got between them, basically telling T to sit the &^%$ down or he was out, same to the other guys. Mind you, T conveniently chose a time that Chad was out having a smoke.
When Chad and D got back to the table, L whispered over to him to let him know what was going on. When it was time to start heading out, there was a bit of the guys getting in each other's faces again, so people attempted to get T the hell out of there. Chad spoke with the guys at the other table, trying to figure out what the hell was going on. They were confrontational for a while, thinking Chad was getting in their face as well, but eventually realized that he was trying to get T out of there because he was being an asshole, and the goal was to calm the situation down.
Thankfully, Chad was extremely successful. The guys were rearing for a fight at that point, and had planned on kicking T's ass outside. If it weren't for Chad, that's exactly what would have happened. After T and L left, one of them actually said to Chad, "Man, he's lucky to have a friend like you. You're a really stand-up, respectful guy."
The sad thing is, Chad has to do this *&^% too often. Why does Chad have to be the peacemaker so much? I think it's to the point for some people to take for granted (or take advantage?) that Chad will "take care of the situation". I've seen it a thousand times now. Why can't other people step up and take responsibility for themselves and others? For crap's sake, how old are we again?
All the while, I was getting REALLY uncomfortable telling D repeatedly that she shouldn't get another drink, and it seemed that she got pissed at me for it. Chad and I are fortunate that we can easily take a cab back home if necessary. I know D doesn't have that luxury, living as far away as she does. Most people I know that have to drive home wait at least an hour before leaving, sometimes more, just to sober up if they've had a few. It's not just about being 'fine', it's about being safe.
I'm just kinda bitter about the whole night, and needed to vent.
Bored with music I have, and want to get work done instead of looking around for something new online... so... any suggestions?
Not that I'd expect anyone to mention the following, but I can tell you I've listened to more than my share of AFI, Placebo, Muse and Patrick Wolf lately, so those are no-gos.
UPDATE: Am getting a kick out of listening to my long-forgotten LAUNCH radio station. LOVE IT. Still, if you have recommendations, lemme know ; )
